Well, what was previously a Christmas letter is now just a 2017 recap. But I’m not sure it really matters if you read this letter before or after Christmas, either way my 2017 was still the same. Honestly, if I’m writing anything in this letter you don’t already know, then you’re not that great of a follower and you should go back and read every single one of my blog posts and/or Instagram posts. Anyway, let’s get on with the recap.
In the beginning on the year, I decided to take my previously secret blog and Instagram account public. While I loved doing my flatlays, I realized it was time to move up and get myself in front of the camera. But of course, being in front of the camera means you need the perfect look. So I dyed my hair back to blonde and purchased clip-in hair extensions so I would maintain my blogger ready look for every picture.
Travel became a large part of my 2017. I counted 55 nights spent away from my bed this year. Half of that time was spent in Chicago helping out my family. However, I did make it to some exciting locations as well. I traveled to Hawaii for the first time, and I also made it to NYC twice. All of my trips were incredible and I look forward to seeking out new travel destinations in 2018.
The biggest thing that happened this year was I ate a lot of ice cream. Actually, that happens every year, but this year I decided to start writing about it, so it’s a job. I tried quite a few shops I’d never been to before, and was able to connect with some of the owners. It’s been neat hearing stories of how these delicious joints came to be. I hope you’ve been drooling over my pictures.
Oh, and because of my ice cream blogging, I made my first TV appearance this year. Fox 13 The Place invited me to chat about my five favorite ice cream spots in Utah. The interviewers told me they’d never talked to anyone who was so excited about ice cream. I’m holding off on any autographs until I get my second TV appearance. Fingers crossed for Ellen.
I moved to a new apartment in October, because it’s a favorite hobby of mine. Since my entire life revolves around if something is pretty enough for pictures, I left my ugly brown apartment behind and traded it in for a gorgeous white and black, with awesome hardwood floors apartment. It’s been slow moving getting it picture perfect, but you can expect it to make a much more frequent appearance in my 2018 images. Also, it has a bigger closet which helps with my ever growing collection of graphic tees.
A lot of posts going around this week mention people being excited 2017 is over. While I’m looking forward to what’s coming up in 2018, I didn’t think 2017 was too bad. It had it’s up and downs, but it was nothing compared to the nightmare that was 2016.
Well this wraps up on 2017 recap. I’m off to write some 2018 New Year’s resolutions that I can fail by the end of next week.
