Ever since the first Baked Bear opened at Station Park in Farmington, I’ve been dying to try it. Nothing was holding me back from going there, I just never put it on my agenda. So when I first decided to start “Ice Cream Sunday’s,” it was the first ice cream shop that came to mind.
My first adventure to Baked Bear was delicious, but also a disaster. I went by myself and took my own pictures. It was a warm day and while I was trying to hold my phone with one hand, my other hand was holding the ice cream sandwich and ice cream was slowly dripping down my arm. That sticky mess made me realize it was just too difficult to take my own pictures and after that I’ve only gone to ice cream shops with someone else.
My second adventure to Baked Bear was to the Fashion Place location. This location is pretty new and the decorations are amazing. I was more prepared the second time around and I understood the process. Plus, I brought a photographer, which means I get to share these gorgeous pictures with you!
The Baked Bear is a create your own ice cream sandwich shop. They have a variety of cookies, ice cream, and toppings to choose from. The options are endless and you are in total control of how your dessert turns out.
I chose to create a double stacked sandwich. It had a brownie on the bottom, Bear Batter ice cream, a cookies and cream cookie, Cookie Dough ice cream, a chocolate chip cookie, and it was topped off with whipped cream and a fudge drizzle. My creation was picture perfect.
Now I must say, while this looks absolutely amazing, it’s not the easiest to eat. I used a spoon to eat the ice cream, but it took me a while. And the longer I took to eat, the harder the cookies became. At one point, I picked up the top cookie with the whipped cream on it and took a bite. It made a bit of a mess, but it was my most successful bite. I ended up eating most of the ice cream, but only a little bit of the cookies and brownies.
The two most important lessons I learned from my Baked Bear adventures were to only get a regular two cookie and scoop of ice cream sandwich, and to just enjoy it if I’m by myself. As much as we live in the day and age of everyone taking pictures of their food, sometimes it’s just not worth it if the ice cream could potentially melt.
I hope everyone has a happy Ice Cream Sunday. Tell me in the comments which cookies and ice cream you would choose from Baked Bear to create your perfect ice cream sandwich. And if you’re looking for more ice cream inspiration, check out my previous posts here.
