I’m not sure there is a better combination than brunch and ice cream. That’s a millennials dream, right?!? I’ve always been obsessed with ice cream, but this brunch obsession is new to me. I also gained a recent obsession with avocado toast, so I think I’m pretty deep into this millennial behavior now. Anyway, today’s feature is Les Madeleines and I have nothing but amazing things to say my about experience.
But first, Brunch
Since I’ve heard it’s healthier to at least eat a meal before you start on dessert, I decided to grab some brunch before eyeing the ice cream. When I first walked in to Les Madeleines, I realized right away this was going to be a delicious experience. Typically, I don’t venture into Salt Lake City and I definitely can’t tell you where the locals hang out, but I’m pretty sure this could be one of the places. It’s an average sized location, enough to fit a few display cases of the most amazing look pastries, and some tables. They also has outside tables which are perfect for when the fall days actually arrive. They also had a fancy looking selection of coffee, but I don’t drink coffee so I didn’t try it.

The ladies were working were all very kind and patient. I always wonder what people think when my first question is “which of your breakfast items is the most instagrammable?” Of course, when they suggested the french toast, I was sold. It’s my favorite breakfast item, aside from bacon. They also suggested the MadMuffin Sandwich. My photographer ordered that and said it was really good! Overall, brunch was a huge success.
Ice Cream for Lunch
I would be lying if I said I ate ice cream for dinner often, however I’d also be lying if I told you I didn’t sometimes eat ice cream for breakfast or lunch! Ok, and now to the ultimate truth about Les Madeleines, they also serve gelato. I promise I really will find a real ice cream shop soon!
Last week in my first post I mentioned I was more concerned about how the gelato looked as opposed to tasted. Well this week when I said they had mint chip, which is my favorite, I didn’t care about looks. The mint flavoring was good and I enjoyed the cone a lot as well! They only had a few options of flavors, but they all looked really good.
This ice cream adventure is really exciting for me. I’ve feel like I haven’t really appreciated the city I live in and I know it has so much to offer. If you want to try Les Madeleines, you can find them at 216 East 500 South in Salt Lake City. My new t-shirt “a well balanced diet is an ice cream in both hands” was made specifically for me by Burt’s Tees. If you need a tee that matches how you feel, reach out and they can make it happen!
