Happy Ice Cream Sunday, friends. I don’t know about you, but Sunday is my favorite day of the week. It’s when I usually get the most rest, I don’t think about errands or getting anything done around my apartment. Sunday is the day when I spend the most time concentrating on my blog and prepping for the upcoming week. Oh, and it’s the day I get to tell you about my most recent ice cream adventure. This week is all about Last Course Ice Cream and Dessert Studio and it is full of dessert that will make you drool.
Last Course Ice Cream and Dessert Studio has two locations. One in Draper and one at City Creek in Salt Lake City. I visited the Draper location. First things first, the shop is beautiful. In a world full of oversharing your eating adventures on Instagram, Last Course is the perfect setting to take pictures.
Ok, so now that we’ve established the beauty of the shop, lets talk ice cream. I was a little overwhelmed by the flavors they served. They seemed strange and I couldn’t be more basic when it comes to my tasting palette. Fortunately, there was a super sweet girl working who told me all about the flavors. She asked me what I liked, answered all my questions about how things tasted, and eventually one-by-one I tried all the flavors.
Side note – instead of using cheap plastic spoons for samples, they use real mini metal spoons. It felt really fancy!
A few of my favorite flavors were Breakfast Cereal, Strawberry Cheesecake, Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk, and Maldon Salted Caramel. But more importantly, the ones that surprised me with how good they were was the Chili Cherry, Jalapeno Berry, and Rosemary & Honey. The only flavor I refused to try was the Smoked Maple Bacon. To me, adding bacon to any sort of dessert is just wrong. But hey, if it’s your thing, you do you!
If ice cream isn’t your thing, I’m not sure what you’re doing here! Ok, kidding. The good news is Last Course Ice Cream and Dessert Studio has you covered with other various desserts. After sampling all the ice and getting a double scoop cone, I was feeling pretty sugared out, but I really wanted to try a dessert. Every option looked so amazing. I will need to head back and try them one-by-one.
For my first adventure, I choose the Strawberry Nachos. And friends, the strawberry salsa was soooooo good! The Strawberry Nachos come with chocolate “chips” (see what I did there) to dip in that delicious salsa. It was unlike any dessert I’ve ever had, which made it all the more fun.
I don’t know about you, but I’m so happy the frozen yogurt fad is over and now places with real ice cream like Last Course are popping up more frequently. If you are in Utah, go give them a try. You will be glad you did.
